In November 1978, the Churchill Theatre, Bromley’s then recently rebuilt flagship venue, advertised the formation of a youth drama group. Of all who wrote in, ten letters were chosen for a first meeting, and, at aged 15, I became founding Chairman of the Churchill Theatre Youth Section.
Much helped and guided by Allison Jowitt, among others, I organised and created activities for the group, every Sunday, for fourteen months, during which we had over 500 members at peak times.
Our float in the Bromley Carnival, sponsored by the Churchill Theatre, won 1st prize in both charitable and commercial categories.
