Professional Theatre, by definition, means one is being paid for one’s performance work. Gothic Relief Theatre Company were recipients of a government grant, making the company the Employment Training Initiative in Glastonbury. On paper, at least, the production team were being paid. In practice, the entire grant was spent on paying a wage to the Administrator of our venue, the Glastonbury Assembly Rooms.
