Sex robots at HCC12 makes waves
In July 2016 David gave an interview to the Hong Kong based South China Morning Post and answered lots of questions about the future of sex robots – the hot topic of both Keynote speakers at the Human Choice and Computers Conference chaired by David, at MediaCityUK. US outlets CBS News and The Observer, UK outlets The Times (behind paywall), the Daily Mirror and the Daily Mail took up part of the story, along with local papers the Salford Star and Mancunican Matters, and industry commenters Impulse Gamer, Computer Business Review and Business Insider. Impulse Gamer also did an interview with David, published a few days later.
As the South China Morning Post put it ““Over the past decade or more, China seems to have very successfully absorbed the manufacturing capabilities [for robotics],” said Kreps, chairman of the world’s first conference to explore the impact of technology on sexuality that is taking place in the UK in September.”
Newspaper interest in the conference began with the Press Release in early July on IFIP News, and continued throughout September. On the first day of the conference, throughout the day, Sky News aired a piece about the conference. David, along with keynote speakers Charles Ess and Ghislaine Boddington, were interviewed on BBC Manchester breakfast show on the morning of the last day of the conference. The week after, an interview with David was broadcast on ThatsManchester Freeview Channel.
