We performed with The London Gay Men's Chorus (LGMC), the UK's largest and best-known gay choir, at Manchester's prestigious Library Theatre. The sold-out concert was the latest leg of their 2003 UK and Ireland Tour.

With a membership of 20 and a set of performance-standard songs, we performed twice in August 2003 during the Europride fortnight. We sang at the Manchester Museum as part of their Europride cultural evening, and at the Library Theatre in front of a sold-out audience, with the London Gay Men’s Chorus, the best-known gay chorus in the UK.

Our appearances during Europride generated a lot of publicity that drew in many new members in October and November 2003. In fact, membership trebled in last quarter, to about 60 active members of both genders and all age groups and backgrounds. We are extremely grateful for Operation Fundraiser’s kind support in contributing to this huge growth in membership.

In December, we took part in several events in Manchester in both the LGBT and wider communities. We were very honoured to sing at the World AIDS Day vigil at Sackville Park. We appeared at the Manchester Museum as part of a charity evening for the homeless. We also sang at a remembrance service at the Co-Operative Funeral Home in Chorlton as part of an effort to build bridges between communities.
