{"id":228,"date":"2013-01-01T10:54:22","date_gmt":"2013-01-01T10:54:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kreps.org\/academic\/?p=228"},"modified":"2023-06-01T20:59:55","modified_gmt":"2023-06-01T20:59:55","slug":"ifip-wg-9-5-virtuality-and-society","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kreps.org\/academic\/ifip-wg-9-5-virtuality-and-society\/","title":{"rendered":"Chair IFIP WG 9.5 &#8211; Virtuality and Society"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"s7\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-195\" src=\"http:\/\/kreps.org\/academic\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/img_mainlogo-1.png\" alt=\"img_mainlogo\" width=\"80\" height=\"121\" \/>After holding a number of committee posts David\u00a0became Chair of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ifip95wg.org\/\">IFIP WG9.5<\/a> in January 2013,\u00a0and thus a member of IFIP\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ifip.org\/tc\/?tc=tc9\">Technical Committee 9<\/a>.\u00a0The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ifip.org\/\">International Federation of Information Processors<\/a> was 50 years old in 2010.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ifip.org\">IFIP<\/a> has a formal consultative partnership relation with UNESCO and is listed as an international non-governmental organization (NGO). \u00a0\u00a0National Computing Societies (e.g. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acm.org\">ACM<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bcs.org\">BCS<\/a>) are\u00a0IFIP&#8217;s primary membership, and a range of Technical Committees considering issues of importance through a host of specialist working groups. \u00a0These working groups include a great number of com<\/span><span class=\"s7\">puting, information systems,<\/span><span class=\"s7\">\u00a0social science\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s7\">and philosophy\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s7\">academics, as well as industry representatives.<\/span><span class=\"s7\">\u00a0 \u00a0David\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s7\">attends TC9 meetings each year and contributes to the international work of IFIP. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s7\">At the TC9 meeting in Turku, Finland, in July 2014, David<\/span><span class=\"s7\">\u00a0was\u00a0invited to act\u00a0as\u00a0Chair, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hcc12.net\/\">12<\/a><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hcc12.net\/\"><span class=\"s37\">th<\/span><\/a><span class=\"s7\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ifiptc9.org\/hcc12\">\u00a0IFIP TC9 Human Choice and Computers Conference<\/a>, which will\u00a0take place at\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s7\">MediaCityUK<\/span><span class=\"s7\">, Salford Quays, Greater Manchester, in September 2016. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After holding a number of committee posts David\u00a0became Chair of IFIP WG9.5 in January 2013,\u00a0and thus a member of IFIP\u2019s\u00a0Technical Committee 9.\u00a0The International Federation of Information Processors was 50 years old in 2010.\u00a0IFIP has&#46;&#46;&#46;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":840,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[20,19],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-228","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-blog","category-research"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/kreps.org\/academic\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/228","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/kreps.org\/academic\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/kreps.org\/academic\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/kreps.org\/academic\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/kreps.org\/academic\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=228"}],"version-history":[{"count":6,"href":"https:\/\/kreps.org\/academic\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/228\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":995,"href":"https:\/\/kreps.org\/academic\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/228\/revisions\/995"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/kreps.org\/academic\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/840"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/kreps.org\/academic\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=228"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/kreps.org\/academic\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=228"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/kreps.org\/academic\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=228"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
