David became Programme Director, in September 2021. Possible outcomes ranged between non-accreditation, one year, three year, or the coveted five year re-accreditation. \u00a0Today it was announced that the programme received the full five year accreditation from the international review team:<a href=\"https:\/\/www.universityofgalway.ie\/about-us\/news-and-events\/news-archive\/2022\/october\/university-of-galways-business-information-systems-programme-awarded-efmd-programme-accreditation.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1728\" src=\"http:\/\/kreps.org\/academic\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/EFMD-Global-V-Pantone-99x150.jpg\" alt=\"EFMD logo\" width=\"99\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kreps.org\/academic\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/EFMD-Global-V-Pantone-99x150.jpg 99w, https:\/\/kreps.org\/academic\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/EFMD-Global-V-Pantone-198x300.jpg 198w, https:\/\/kreps.org\/academic\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/EFMD-Global-V-Pantone-677x1024.jpg 677w, https:\/\/kreps.org\/academic\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/EFMD-Global-V-Pantone.jpg 808w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 99px) 100vw, 99px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The BSc Business Information Systems (BIS) at J.E. Cairnes School of Business and Economics has been awarded the maximum five-year European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) Programme Accreditation, an international benchmark of excellence.<\/p>\n<p>EFMD Accreditation is a comprehensive programme quality assurance system for business and\/or management degrees and courses. Currently, there are 140 EFMD Accredited programmes from 108 institutions in 40 countries.<\/p>\n<p>The accreditation covers all facets of programme provision including: the institutional, national and international environment, curriculum, design and delivery, and quality assurance processes. EFMD Accreditation emphasises academic rigour, practical relevance, internationalisation, ethics and sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>Dr David Kreps, BSc BIS Programme Director said: \u201cThe Business Information Systems academics and support staff, and the School Accreditation\u2019s Team, are immensely pleased with this fantastic recognition for all their efforts this year in preparing for the quality review.
