{"id":1474,"date":"2021-08-14T00:28:29","date_gmt":"2021-08-14T00:28:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kreps.org\/academic\/?p=1474"},"modified":"2023-06-01T20:57:41","modified_gmt":"2023-06-01T20:57:41","slug":"men-individualism-and-process-a-pardoners-tale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kreps.org\/academic\/men-individualism-and-process-a-pardoners-tale\/","title":{"rendered":"Men, Individualism and Process: A Pardoner\u2019s Tale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1566\" src=\"http:\/\/kreps.org\/academic\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/pule-2-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kreps.org\/academic\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/pule-2-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/kreps.org\/academic\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/pule-2-100x150.jpg 100w, https:\/\/kreps.org\/academic\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/pule-2.jpg 266w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>In August 2021 David published a chapter exploring the insight process philosophy can bring to bear upon an understanding of the strain of methodological individualism, running from Hobbes to Nozick, at the heart of the hypermasculinity that many argue is the root cause of the climate crisis of the 21st century.\u00a0 The book, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/book\/10.1007\/978-3-030-54486-7\">Men, Masculinities, and Earth: <\/a><\/em><em>Contending with the (m)Anthropocene\u00a0<\/em>brings together authors (including Raewyn Connell, Jeff Hearn and many others) concerned with the juncture of contemporary masculinities and ecological thought.\u00a0 One of its two editors, Paul Pul\u00e9, first discovered David&#8217;s paper on <a href=\"http:\/\/kreps.org\/academic\/amcis-2010\/\">Ecomasculinities<\/a> during his PhD studies, and has been pursuing ecological masculinity as a research topic ever since. Putting together this anthology, it was a matter of some importance to him to ensure that David was invited, and able to contribute, a meaningful chapter to the book.\u00a0 Paul&#8217;s enthusiastic and (friendly) critical editing required many rewrites but the finished article is well worth it.
