David Kreps Elected Chair of IFIP Technical Assembly
IFIP – the International Federation for Information Processing – founded by UNESCO in 1960, is the leading multinational, apolitical organization in Information & Communications Technologies and Sciences, recognized by the United Nations and other world bodies, and representing IT Societies from over 38 countries/regions, covering five continents with a total membership of over half a million. Its scientific arm links more than 3500 scientists from Academia & Industry and comprises over 100 Working Groups across 13 different Technical Committees. Each Technical Committee comprises the Chairs of the relevant Working Groups, and is Chaired by one of its members.
IFIP stalwart, Dr David Kreps, Chair of Technical Committee 9 on ICT and Society for the past six years, has this month been elected chair of the IFIP Technical Assembly – the Committee of the Technical Committee Chairs. In this role he will join the Executive Committee of IFIP, that governs this global organisation.
An active participant in IFIP since 2008, David has held numerous leadership roles across TC9 and WG9.5, including serving as chair of both bodies. He has also chaired and co-chaired various Human Choice and Computers conferences and served as Editor of Proceedings for Springer Publications over several years.
David also played a leadership role in the introduction of the IFIP Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
