External Examiner, Wolverhampton University

In May 2022 David acted as External Examiner for PhD Candidate Konstantinos Kerasovitis. The Viva lasted three hours, during which Konstantinos answered probing questions from David, and welcomed comments and suggestions on how his work could be improved. The verdict on the overarching question of the day – ‘Is this work worthy of a PhD?’ – was “yes, but…,” as is generally the case for candidates who have made it this far. David brought his inimitable style to the proceedings encouraging much laughter, humility, and openness, and both the internal examiner and independent chair commented on what an unusually enjoyable Viva it had been. Well done to Dr. Konstantinos Kerasovitis for an excellent performance on the day, and for extremely interesting work on Necrolabour – a look at digital work through the eyes of Georges Bataille.
