BSc BIS Achieves EFMD 5 Year Accreditation
From Autumn 2021 through to Spring 2023 David was heavily engaged – as Programme Director- in the preparation of a 100page report, and for a three-day peer review visit in May 2023, in the attempt to gain re-accreditation for the BSc Business Information Systems degree. David became Programme Director, in September 2021. Possible outcomes ranged between non-accreditation, one year, three year, or the coveted five year re-accreditation. Today it was announced that the programme received the full five year accreditation from the international review team:
“The BSc Business Information Systems (BIS) at J.E. Cairnes School of Business and Economics has been awarded the maximum five-year European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) Programme Accreditation, an international benchmark of excellence.
EFMD Accreditation is a comprehensive programme quality assurance system for business and/or management degrees and courses. Currently, there are 140 EFMD Accredited programmes from 108 institutions in 40 countries.
The accreditation covers all facets of programme provision including: the institutional, national and international environment, curriculum, design and delivery, and quality assurance processes. EFMD Accreditation emphasises academic rigour, practical relevance, internationalisation, ethics and sustainability.
Dr David Kreps, BSc BIS Programme Director said: “The Business Information Systems academics and support staff, and the School Accreditation’s Team, are immensely pleased with this fantastic recognition for all their efforts this year in preparing for the quality review. We are overjoyed that our students, past, present, and future, can continue to be proud that their degree is one of the finest in the world.” [Full story]
